Tech analysts later discovered that these performance issues were not caused by the game engine itself, but rather by the implementation of its anti-piracy protections. In July 2021, they released an official PC patch that included performance optimizations and added AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) technology, noting that the "anti-piracy system" had been optimized. However, a performance analysis revealed that the official patched version performed identically to the cracked version, confirming the DRM was indeed the source of the earlier problems. Later, in April 2023, Capcom fully removed Denuvo from the Steam version.
