Brkovi’s story began when members of two disbanded Zagreb groups – Antifrik and Abrakha‑dub‑r – joined forces. The line‑up stabilised in 2007 with the arrival of frontman Vedran Pehar (better known as Shamso69), whose sharp, provocative lyrics and charismatic stage presence became the band’s trademark. The music itself is a chaotic blend of punk, hard rock, heavy metal, reggae and the sentimental melodies of turbo‑folk, a mixture the band proudly labels .

Brkovi’s discography is more than a list of albums – it is a chronicle of two decades of musical insubordination. By refusing record labels, giving away their music for free, and building an audience one sweaty club show at a time, the band has carved out a unique place in Balkan music history. Whether you are drawn to the turbo‑punk chaos of Pizda Materina , the melancholic metal of Torzo Dade Topića , or the infectious hooks of Duga devetka , there is a Brkovi record waiting to surprise you. And as the group continues to tour relentlessly, one thing is certain: their moustache‑shaped anarchist flag is not coming down any time soon.

Their music is a volatile cocktail, combining the raw energy of punk rock, the weight of heavy metal, the groove of reggae, and the emotional, often sentimental melodies of Balkan folk music. This rebellious approach extends to their business model. From the start, Brkovi have made their entire available for free download on their official website. This commitment to free access was a reaction to the poor sales of their debut physical release, as they realized their music was finding its true audience online. They maintain this principle to this day, choosing artistic freedom over commercial contracts, which has only strengthened their connection with their fiercely loyal fanbase.
For fans who want to dive even deeper into the music, Brkovi released an official songbook, in 2023. Released in collaboration with the Rockmark bookstore, the songbook contains lyrics and chords for 30 of the band’s biggest hits, carefully selected by Shamso69. Spanning eight albums, from Punkfolkwellness to Krvava Novčanica , the collection features anthems like “Mala,” “Tolerancija,” “Ornela,” and “Naša mala zemlja”. As Shamso69 said at the launch: “These songs have long stopped being mine and have become yours. The purpose of their existence is now fully fulfilled. Brkovi are to be loved!”.

In April 2026, Brkovi announced their ninth studio album, aptly titled Duga devetka (“Long Nine”), which consists of nine new tracks. The lead single Novi Bon Jovi had been a live favourite for years, finally receiving a studio recording. Other pre‑release singles include Moj prijatelj je postao žena , Labavi and a refreshed version of Naše male zemlje . The album continues the band’s signature mix of raw energy, satire and unvarnished emotion.
